Pique is firmly opposed to the European Super League, something which caused shockwaves to football around the world. After his comments on Twitter, the Catalan spoke once again.
"It's not positive in the long run for the world of football. Do we want this? Do we want the likes of Sevilla, Valencia, Everton, Leicester and Napoli to disappear? Because those would end up being worth nothing," the Barcelona defender explained in part of an interview for 'Universo Valdano' on channel 'Vamos'.
Pique is quite clear. He thinks that small and medium sized clubs would be badly affected as welll as the domestic competitions. "Football is for fans," he wrote on social media this Tuesday.
In this short extract of the interview, which was recorded before the Super League scandal broke out, he has words of praise for the new Barca president Joan Laporta.
"As president of Barcelona, he is in a situation which has seen him take over the club in a very negative financial situation. He is going to take the best possible decision for Barca," Pique said, while waiting to find out whether his club will continue to form part of this new competition.
