The Premier League will get new refereeing rules starting in the 2016/2017 season as the FA seeks to curb ‘intolerable behavior’ among players in the league.
Players will now receive red cards for physically confronting officials and even making rude or abusive gestures to match officials.
Players will receive yellow cards when they surround referees or even contest their decisions!
According to Premier League chairman Richard Scudamore, “It is our collective position that these types of behaviour should no longer be tolerated,”
“Things happen in the heat of the moment during fast and highly competitive football. We still want to see the passion fans enjoy and demand, but players and managers have to be aware there are lines that should not be crossed.”
