Juan Mata joined by Manchester United team-mates as midfielder celebrates his 28th birthday ahead of Leicester clash
Juan Mata was joined by Manchester United team-mates as the midfielder enjoyed an evening out with family and friends on Thursday to celebrate his 28th birthday.
The
Spaniard went for a meal at the Gaucho restaurant in Manchester where
he was accompanied by several of his club mates, who were all pictured
leaving the establishment later that night.
Mata's
compatriots David de Gea and Ander Herrera were present at the
Argentinian eatery as were Marcos Rojo, Guillermo Varela, Morgan
Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian.

France
midfielder Schneiderlin shared a picture alongside Mata during the
night and wrote: 'Great dinner for the birthday of mi amigo (my
friend).'
United
goalkeeper De Gea, an international team-mate of Mata too, also posted a
photo on Instagram with the birthday boy and wrote: 'Having dinner with
the elderly. Happy birthday brother.'
Speaking
on Periscope on Thursday Juan Mata said: 'As you can imagine it is a
very special day for me. It is my birthday, 28th April, and I am 28
years old.
'First
of all, I have to say thank you very much for all the messages, it has
been amazing – at the training ground on social media. It has been an
incredible day.'

Earlier
this week, Mata took a refreshingly honest swipe at the 'obscene' money
circulating in football's 'bubble' and the 'rock star' attitudes of
some young players.
Mata
even confessed he would take a pay-cut if it meant a return to the day
when football was driven by the fans, not businessmen.
'Football is very well remunerated at this level,' said the 27-year-old in an interview on Spanish TV show Salvados.
'We
live in a bubble. Compared to the rest of society, we earn a ridiculous
amount. It's unfathomable. With respect to the world of football, I
earn a normal wage. But compared to 99.9 per cent of Spain and the rest
of the world, I earn a silly amount.'
Louis
van Gaal's players took time out from their preparations for Sunday's
visit of Premier League champions elect Leicester City to ensure Mata
had a birthday to remember.
Mata
will be hoping to continue his birthday celebrations over the weekend
by beating the Foxes, stopping them from winning the title at Old
Trafford while boosting United's own hopes of finishing the season
strongly.
